Stirling Ideas 2 - August 2005 to June 2006
Stirling Ideas 2 was funded through a DSC Recreation Tender and structured to take place over 40 weeks.
A connection had already been made with the City of Stirling through the initial Stirling Ideas project and it was perceived by the partners that continuing the relationship would ensure a depth of understanding of the recreational needs of people with disabilities in that area.
Working with the Community Development Manager of City of Stirling, the project team identified appropriate community venues to run arts workshops in arts and cultural events for the residents to link to the rest of the community and ways to sustain the target group's recreation in their local community.
The outcomes of 40 weeks of arts activity were:
- Increased recreation options and community participation for the target group
- Increased interaction between participants and other members of their local community and recreation options for other community members to link into
- Raised community awareness of the contributions of people with disabilities
- Raised awareness of the inclusion of people with disabilities in the City of Stirling
- Improved community resources for the inclusion of people with disability
- A community arts event ( Fish n Win at the Terry Tyzack Open Day ) and an exhibition at Remida celebrated the experiences of all the participants working on the project
- Strategies for DSC support staff to sustain the links made with local government and community members
