For those of you who have been to the West Kimberley you will be familiar with the huge tides, the blue sky, the red earth, the Boab trees and the expansive Marsh land that envelops the town of Derby and provides a backdrop for those majestic Kimberley sunsets.

In celebration of the lifestyle of the West Kimberley, Derby has an annual Art Prize and a Boab Festival that involves the community coming together for a number of activities and events.

DADAA Inc, in consultation with a local group of artists, joined in the festivities this year. The Marsh Art project was conceived. It involved multi discipline art workshops for children and young people, weaving workshops with women and children, the design and construction of large scale metal frames for fire sculptures through the TAFE college and much, much more. The project concluded with Marshartability, a twilight event that celebrated the end of the Boab festival and showcased the art work that was created over the six month period of the Marsh Art Project.
