Arts Agencies expand their regional work, employing part time Projects Officers in the Kimberley, South West , Goldfields, Great Southern and Mid West, with the support of the Regional Arts Fund
Disability in the Arts Disadvantage in the Arts WA announced two new part time Arts & Health Project Officers will be joining the DADAA regional team. Jennifer Miller will be based with the host organisation Advocacy South West in Bunbury and comes from a visual arts background and Maya Haviland comes to the position with a community development background and skills in digital media and will be based in Derby. Maya’s role will assist communities in Fitzroy Crossing and Broome as well.
The artsource Regional and Indigenous Artist Development program, commonly known as Artist Mob, provides regional and Indigenous artists with opportunities to run a successful art practice. The program aims to ensure that sufficient visual arts knowledge, interest and skills are developed and remain within the community, ensuring continuity and growth of the sector. In 2006 artsource will appoint 3 regional project officers to support artists locally on a part-time basis, Ashley Smith in Kalgoorlie based at Wongutha Birni Cultural Centre, Sonja Parmentier in the Mid West and Hazel Hansen in Katanning.
The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government initiative supporting the arts in regional, remote and very remote/isolated Australia. The program is delivered in partnership with Country Arts WA.
