DADAA
(Disability in the Arts, Disadvantage in the Arts, Australia) Inc. is a not-for-profit Community Cultural Development organization. Based in Fremantle, Australia, we have been a catalyst for the development of an inclusive approach to the arts and culture of Western Australia for more than ten years.

Our focus is on creating opportunities and significant beneficial social change with people who have a disability and/or mental health issue living in local communities across Western Australia.

DADAA currently offers targeted cultural development programs in over 46 Western Australian communities.

These programs cater to the artistic development and social and cultural participation needs of more than 2000 people annually.

Our arts programs offer individualized and group arts practices that assist in the development of a wide range of artistic, social and functional skills that enhance self-confidence and enable participants to enter into activities and roles that are essential to a fulfilling, productive and participative life.

Through DADAA arts programs and audience development practices, individuals enjoy enriched relationships within their local communities, and parents and carers have some relief from care.

Our programs are designed to build inclusive, sustainable, and creative communities through a combination of artistic and educational practices involving:
  • Health;
  • Community Cultural Development;
  • Arts Development;
  • Regional Access and Support; and
  • Community-based Action Learning via Research, Planning, Development and Evaluation.

For DADAA, Community Cultural Development is about putting cultural development into community hands. Our approach relies on long-term local partnerships to build community skills by focusing on responsive developmental arts practices involving developmental action learning, community-based collaborative research, and innovative action. We also have a demonstrated a track record as key a force in the development of sustainable cross Government / cross community partnerships, bridging the gap between disparate communities, NGOs, the corporate sector and Government.
